For Groundswell, the key to realizing the potential offered by the new wave of integration tools was to build a team skilled first and foremost in the traditional disciplines of systems integration. Our team members are business and systems analysts, data and technical architects, and project managers.
Added to these core skills is our collective appreciation that integration, and the new tools, has created an opportunity to re-engineer the way IT interacts with business. For the first time, it's now possible to link any and all applications in an enterprise, from your suppliers to your customers, from your ERP to your field automation, and everything in between.
A CEO once aptly described the current state of most corporate IT structures as modern cities connected by dirt roads. Well, harnessing the power of new technology, we design information freeways and connectors and we build them too.
Of course, these new skills, welded onto our core IT skills, were not acquired over night. A new development tool can be absorbed quite quickly by any competent IT practitioner, but the modern analysis skills required in an integration expert, the ability to pro-actively engage with business leaders, are not always intuitive even to the most senior IT personnel. Continual training and education is therefore integral to the way we refine our skills and approach, added to which we keep abreast of what is happening in the wider integration world through our involvement in the Integration Consortium.
